UPS Service Guarantee

These are the guarantees, straight from the UPS website:


Each and every package you ship via UPS is guaranteed to arrive by a predetermined date weather you are aware of this or not. There are a few exceptions listed below that come into play at times.

  • UPS guarantees on-schedule delivery of packages shipped via UPS Air Services, where such services are available, to all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
  • UPS guarantees on-schedule delivery of packages shipped via UPS Hundredweight Air Services, where such services are available, to all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
  • UPS guarantees on-schedule delivery of packages shipped via UPS 3 Day Select and UPS Hundredweight 3 Day Select, where such services are available, to all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
  • UPS guarantees on-schedule delivery of packages shipped via UPS Ground and UPS Hundredweight Ground, where such services are available, to all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The guarantee does not apply to UPS shipments that are delayed due to:

  • the unavailability or refusal of a person to accept delivery of the shipment;
  • acts of God;
  • acts of public authorities acting with actual or apparent authority;
  • acts or omissions of customs or similar authorities; insufficient information provided by a customer;
  • Hazardous Materials packages improperly offered for transport;
  • the application of security regulations imposed by the government, or otherwise applicable to the shipment;
  • riots, strikes or other labor disputes;
  • civil unrest;
  • disruptions in air or ground transportation networks;
  • and natural disasters.

The guarantee does not apply to UPS commercial and residential Ground shipments or UPS Standard to Canada shipments that are picked up or scheduled to be delivered between December 12 and December 24.

In addition, except for UPS Next Day Air Early A.M. and UPS Worldwide Express Plus deliveries, the guarantee for on-schedule delivery for all other Air and International service shipments delivered within the United States will be extended by 90 minutes on the Day after Thanksgiving Day and on December 18 through December 24.
